A Year of Journaling, Honestly

·

What twelve months of daily pages actually changed, and what they didn't.

A year ago I started writing three pages by hand every morning, mostly because a friend wouldn’t stop recommending it. I expected a breakthrough. I got something quieter and more useful instead.

What changed

I stopped carrying half-formed worries around all day. Writing them down at 7am meant they didn’t need to resurface at 2pm during a meeting. The pages became a kind of pressure valve, not a diary of profound insight.

What didn’t

I’m not a different person. I didn’t solve anything permanently. But I notice my own thinking faster now, which has turned out to be worth more than any single breakthrough could have been.
