The Discipline of Less
·
Clearing my desk, my calendar, and eventually my head.
I used to think minimalism was about owning fewer things. It took me a while to realize the harder version is owning fewer commitments — fewer tabs open in your head at once.
Subtracting on purpose
This spring I removed one thing from my life every week: a subscription, a recurring meeting, a habit I kept out of guilt rather than love. None of it was dramatic. All of it, together, made room for longer mornings and slower dinners.
Less isn’t a aesthetic to me anymore. It’s just what’s left once you stop confusing busyness with meaning.
