Working with the Window Open

On noise, weather, and letting the outside world into the room.

For years I wrote in sealed rooms with headphones on. This year I opened the window and stopped trying to control what came in.

A little weather helps

A passing car, a neighbour’s radio, a change in the light. None of it breaks the work. It reminds me the work is happening somewhere real.
